Unforgettable Moments

I have a little book where I keep quotes that I love and somehow try to incorporate what they say in my life. I'd like to share two of them with you:

"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." (John Lennon)

"Why go further and further? Look, happiness is right here." (Goethe)

I guess happiness is made by every little nice moment we have in our life. It's not something distant, concrete, to be achieved. Like this moment of my son with this gorgeous butterfly on his finger. He was a bit scared at first, but then he enjoyed it so much! Unforgettable!

I'd like to invite you to share some unforgettable moments with us too! Have a great holiday!

Ever since I started studying English at the Cultura Inglesa, a poster on the wall in Taquara branch puzzled me. It said: "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life."

I was just 9 (and needed a teacher to help me understand what was saying), but I'll never forget how I felt every time I read that, on Mondays and Wednesdays before my class started. That was when I decided I had to go to London one day in my life.

This day only came 14 years later when, already a teacher at the Cultura, I got the opportunity of travelling with Cult Trip. And one of the unforgettable moments of my life was exactly when my plane prepared to land in Heathrow and I saw a sign welcoming me to London... It was totally involuntary, but a tear ran down my face, a tear of such hapinnes that I could never describe. I felt a dream was coming true and since the moment I stepped on that land, my life was never the same. The feeling I had of missing something I had never seen was finally explained. And now I miss it indeed.

Hi everyone!

My mum has always been a Carinval fan. She's always told me the stories of the Carnivals of her youth when she would get together with a group of friends, invent and dress up the same costume and go to balls in the clubs of the neighbourhood. We´ve always watched the Parades on TV and listen to the sambas and supported our favourite schools.

One Carvival I managed to get some tickets to watch the Parades at Sapucay. The day was perfect cause my school Mangueira and hers Mocidade would parade at the same night. I just told her about it the day of the parade and she couldn't believe it was true until we arrived there.

And this is my unforgettable moment, the look in my mum's eye of disbelief, wonder and happiness when one of her dreams was coming true. I'll never forget that look, just like a child in an amusement park, and since then I've been trying to reproduce moments like that.

Cheers!

Are we suppose to tell a story here? A memorable one?

OK...so here it goes.Actually, it's not really a story...but a reflection.

A year ago I decided it was time to hit the road. I thought the city where I lived wasn't big enough for me, and I wanted more. More of I didn't know what.So here I am...Rio de Janeiro.
Ever since I got here, many were the moments I wanted to leave...go back to my mom's house, to her love, my dad's love, my sister's love. But I fought back. I always fight back. Because I don't want to let any kind of emotion to overcome my mind. 'Cause I've just found out what I'm here for. TO learn. That's what's happening at Cultura. And I already have some unforgettable days of my life at Cultura Barra II...so many people who became real masters, and beloved friends. And I've been learning so much. Not only about teaching, but about living, about me, about how to deal with different situations, concerning different things. How to rely on myself. How to be confident. Because you know...you can't really have unforgettable moments, if you're not ok inside. And sometimes, I'm not ok inside...I miss my family, I feel scared...I'm afraid of what might happen to me here..alone. But I've managed to work with that... and I can say my days here are always unforgettable.
I guess what I'm really trying to say is...enjoy. Enjoy each day, each moment, each opportunity, just reinforcing what Thais said. That's how I'm trying to live...and you know what?

I'm doing just fine...

Kisses and kisses!

PS: Thais...your kid is really something!

I think the unforgettable moments of our lives are all that we do not see the time and just remember after that are gone.
When my daughter was born was the unforgettable moment of my life that is transformed in new happy moments today.
